What is it that drives you? What is it exactly that defines your purpose, makes you push for your goals and aspirations, and keeps you moving forward? Yes, we are talking about your WHY, the one factor that pushes you to become better than you were the previous day. If you have never heard of this phrase before, or even if you have and you’re already connected to your WHY in life, let’s take a moment to take a look at this brief motivational video:

Your why is what gets you up out of bed in the morning, and what allows you to sleep at night, knowing that you did the best you absolutely could that day. Your why is what pushes you to work hard, harder than your competition, and feel satisfied at the end of a long day when you know you accomplished your goals. Your why is critical to your ongoing success, whether you’re an insurance agent, a marketer, or anyone else for that matter. If you haven’t already discovered your why, let’s take a look at these four questions from Forbes magazine that can help with defining purpose:

  • What makes you come alive?
  • What are your innate strengths?
  • Where do you add the greatest value?
  • How will you measure your life?

Hopefully, these questions are helpful with providing some insight on getting you closer to your why. It is absolutely crucial that you connect with and focus on your why in life, otherwise you will become an insurance agency owner or marketer who is afraid of change, which inevitably leads to stagnance. We are playing a game in the insurance marketing arena that is all about ongoing improvement, drive, work ethic, and then some. If you want to keep up, it starts with discovering your why. I want to encourage you to discover  your own why, but at the same time, I want to share with you our purpose here at Paradiso Presents. That being said, when it comes to teaching insurance marketing to agency owners and marketers, here is our why.

Small Town America

Yes, the Independent Insurance Agent is a true representation of small town America, and that’s not something I’m personally willing to part with, ever. When we look at our local community here in Stafford Springs, as well as all throughout Connecticut, we see potential that simply cannot be ignored. We are always looking to give back to our community in whatever ways we can, whether it’s through feeding the homeless, toy donation drives for the children at our medical centers, or through handing out American Flags during our Flag Day campaigns. Is it good for our marketing? Sure it is, but that’s not the point. The point is that we are empowering and educating insurance agents around the country on how they can give back to their local communities as well. By representing small town America, we are making a huge impact and a world of difference for our communities, and the positivity has been contagious. That, my friends, gives me a breath of fresh air. Let’s give back in whatever ways we possibly can when it comes to our local communities, because we are making America a better place, together.

Coaching Agents

It’s not all about my success; this is about yours. Whoever you are reading this article, I write this content to encourage you to improve your marketing so that your insurance agency can grow. Often times, I hear that it is no longer the age of the Independent Insurance Agent, or that the big name captive carriers are taking over, but do any of us actually believe that? I sure don’t, because our insurance agency is still finding success to this day, and great amounts of it. I’m not here to boast by any means, but instead, tell you that the same success can be found within your insurance agencies as well. Some of us are afraid to bridge the gap with our marketing budget, time and effort spent on marketing, or even hiring a full time marketer. Trust me, if you take the risk, there will be great reward. I want to empower the Independent Insurance Agents throughout U.S. and Canada to succeed, because in my eyes, we are brothers in arms. A leader isn’t one who just knows the way, but shows the way, and if there is any way I can help your agency, I want to hear about it at cparadiso@paradisoinsurance.com.  The age of the Independent Insurance Agent is anything but over; let’s make it a point to push each other’s’ ongoing success within our space.

Journey Found

Yes, I saved the best for last. I want to share with you a little bit about Journey Found, an organization that is near and dear to me for many reasons. Journey Found is an organization that was established to provide homes, support, and ongoing development to intellectually handicapped individuals here in Connecticut. Although this organization is doing great things for these mentally impaired folks, including my sister Rachel, it wasn’t always smooth sailing. The organization was actually established by my father and five other guardians who stood up to help these individuals when they needed help the most. The organization that was previously providing living situations and life assistance had announced back in May 2013 that their contract with the state of Connecticut had been broken, and 51 disabled people and 192 employees were left with no solution. Shortly after, my father and the other guardians established Journey Found. By some miracle, within just six weeks, Journey Found’s doors were open, and the care for the mentally handicapped was never interrupted.

So, why all this about Journey Found, you might ask? Well, whenever we make profits for Paradiso Presents, whether that’s through speaking engagements, online events/webinars, or with the magazine we will be launching shortly, all of our profits go to Journey Found. This is my way of personally giving back to the organization that I care so much about, and the smiles on all of the folks being helped through Journey Found is enough motivation for me to keep pushing forward.

Calling all agents: what is your WHY? What defines your purpose? I ask again now that you’ve had a chance to think about it, and hear about our why here at Paradiso Presents as well. Remember, by defining your why, you’ll be able to push your ongoing success. Best of luck on all of your endeavors agents and brokers, whether that’s through marketing, or in life as a whole!
