A profitable website for insurance agents is not always as easy as it sounds. We find most insurance agencies actually have a very stagnant websites. What do we mean by stagnant? Well basically they are not generating any significant profit for your agency.

In order to have a profitable website, there are five key points.

The first point is that your agency website needs to be recognized in the search engine optimization world (i.e. Google needs to know you exist). What this is referring to is when someone searches for insurance in your area, your website needs to appear on the first page of the search. This occurs only when your website is properly built from the inside out, and that is a result of having the owner of the agency involved in creating keywords for search engine to recognize. If your website is not search engine optimized, your website will never be discovered, meaning you will continue to have a website that no one can see.

Point number two is your website needs to have a very clean and easy appearance- meaning that your website needs to be easy for a prospective client to find what they may be looking for. For example, many times prospects and/or clients are searching for something as simple as your agency’s phone number, so it is very important to have that phone number in the top right-hand corner of the screen, large enough so that everybody can find it without issue.  If your agency website is not clean and easy to maneuver, you’ll find that your website has a high bounce rate in Google analytics, which simply means people are coming to your website and leaving immediately.

Point number three is that your website needs to have a call to action plan. A call to action plan is usually a box located on your website that allows a prospect and/or customer to enter in his or her information to request what they may be looking for. That call to action box is critical because in today’s fast-paced world, people want answers and/ or quotes for their insurance relatively quickly.

The fourth point, which may be most important point, is having an agency identity attached to your agency website. An identity is something that allows others to see you and what your agency stands for in a different manner.  Your agency identity allows you to be different than every other insurance agency out there. For example, on our agency website, we have the colors of red white and blue because it is the agency identity to stand for and be proud of being Americans. We also have a button that says ‘by local, shop local’ because once again that is something that the agency here a Paradiso insurance stands for. Those are just a couple of examples of identity that are attached to our agency website. If we do not have an identity, we will be just like the other thousands of independent insurance agencies out there on the Internet. It is very important to have an agency identity attached to your website.

The fifth key point is having your agency website either mobile friendly and/or having an APP for your website. I personally chose for my agency website to be mobile friendly .  This idea is going to be very important to your agency in the future, so having the mobile friendly site or APP will assist in the movement towards a mobile world. Without these five key points, it is going to be very difficult to generate a profit from your website.
